This year, if they are interested in doing so, students are invited to wear costumes to school on October 31st! Please review the following as you help your child decide if and how they will dress, and feel free to reach out with any questions.

1. All school dress code rules remain in effect and will be enforced. Please refer to the rules (below) from p 5-6 of the 2018-2019 Agenda Book for specific guidelines.

2. No weapons, weapon-like objects, or dangerous items are permitted, even if part of a recognizable costume, including (but not limited to) a knight, ninja, superhero, or Jedi. Please refer to p16 of the Agenda Book regarding consequences of violating these guidelines.

3. Costumes that are overtly religiously, culturally, or politically offensive cannot be worn to school.

4. Inappropriate versions of otherwise appropriate professions cannot be worn to school.

5. Masks cannot be worn on campus before, during, or after school. Makeup or facepaint that obscures the identity of the student, even as part of the costume, cannot be worn and will need to be removed if requested.

Dress Code Policy from the 2018-2019 Sinaloa Middle School Agenda Book

In accordance with the Governing Board we believe that appropriate dress and grooming contribute to a productive learning environment. As our school dress code is in compliance with our Board Policies and Administrative Regulations, we expect our students to give proper attention to personal cleanliness and to wear clothes that are suitable for the school activities in which they participate. Students have the right to make individual choices from a wide range of clothing and grooming styles, but they must not present a health or safety hazard or a distraction which would interfere with the educational process.    (Simi Valley Unified School District | AR  5132  Students)
